These next two games will decide if we're in contention or playing out the string. I know, I know, crazier things have happened, but come on people! We are 3.5 games out. If we lose either of these games it is going to be tough. We don't play the Brewers again for the rest of the season. We NEED to win both of these games.
Tonight it is Sheets vs. Wellemeyer. Now be honest, if somebody told you back in April that our season might come down to this matchup, you wouldn't have liked our chances very much. Heck, you probably thought by now we'd be out of the race! But you know what, I like our chances tonight.
Sheets hasn't been very good lately. He hasn't been bad either, but the way he's been hittable, we have a shot at him. Wellemeyer has had a very good year when you look at it realistically. He has been not so good a few times, but then there are those nights when he is so good that he earns the nickname "Hellemeyer."
It's a must win. Lets hope Albert stays hot, Ludwick and Ankiel chip in, and we get to Sheets.
And let's hope that "Hellemeyer" takes the hill for us.
